This Book Has Worms In It!: Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
A very long story short: Life has no meaning when you become useless to everyone around you.
This novel took me some time to get around to reading. It was suggested in my Creative Writing course, and I knew Kafka to be a bit of an oddball regarding socio-political and psychotropic narratives. I’m used to reading actual novels that are intentionally made up to entertain, not make you think.
But that is precisely the point of writing anything that has the sole intention to inspire and question people and things around you.
I enjoyed Metamorphosis and how well it put life together – as routine and mundane as it is. The universe gives you the change you didn’t know you needed. It is omnipresent and absorbs our essence to produce what shape is the most right for us, and as foul and unruly as it sounds, the perfect image of a bestie is fitting.
I can’t give anything else away. It is a concise book, and the characters are a delight to read.
