Finally.

Grady’s 5th novel came out a few months ago; I did not take any avenues to research what the book could even be about. Aside from the obvious events given by the title, this book is nothing that you would come to ever expect in a fictional world where the monsters are real, and the victims are the Gods.

For the sake of context, the victims are real.

The monsters are real.

Last night I finished reading it for the 2nd time. I sped through it as excited as a bee the first time, enchanted. The 2nd time I spent listening to it was for legitimate respect for the message being told.

I am the sole survivor of a horror movie. Of many horror movies. I’ve been with someone who liked to use his fists, who liked to watch me drink too much and keep me sedated as the saving grace to my past demons. Who valued me because I could make them money. Years of lying to myself made me a paragon in my world; I detach from other people. I withdraw. I rely on routines rather than actually healing to give the appearance of stability. I go numb. The shame in my stupidity is real. So I’ve locked myself away, for good. I never want to become a victim again.

Horror fans like yourselves, read this. Over and over again.
