TONIGHT!: Demons, Reminding You How Much You Love The Theater
Remember going to the theaters and how much you loved just about everything about it? I remember the demons especially. They give fantastic scalp massages.
Dario, to me, is a fantastic director and screenwriter. Don’t get me wrong, some of his works did lack purity in the coke department. Makeup and action scenes still hit those unsettling notes of evil hidden in plain sight while trying to watch Adam Sandler’s Waterboy for all the audience members. Watching a movie within a movie plot is barely used as often as it should. It sets a high precipice of artistic range but can end badly if the secondary characters don’t gripe every ten minutes. That way, you look forward to them dying.
Tonight is my third attempt to complete this film in one sitting. The other times I tried, I fell asleep from all the screams. It didn’t help that Rick James was posing as a very freaky girl, the kind you don’t take home to mother.
The blind man’s guide necking in the back of the theater reminded me of the good old days. Masks were a handy prop after a night at the theater too.
Demons 2 came to my attention first before watching the first installment. I had no expectations in witnessing any back story to this batshit English-dubbed Italian universe. To be an involuntary witness to the supernatural would have me instantly believe that I was drugged and have the right to kill anyone who gets in my way of surviving. There is no “I” in TEAM, but there is “LAUGHTER” in SLAUGHTER. There is an incredible scene with the dirt bike later on into the film, one of the best parts.
If you haven’t seen Demons or Demoni, give it a watch to remind you how you’re always better off watching movies at home. Just glance at your image in the mirror when you take your weekly shower. That’s the only evil mask you can find.
