TONIGHT!: Look Out! Busey’s Hidin’ In The House!
Like many people out there, I am not a homeowner as of yet in my life. Soon to be, however. I’ve lived in an apartment most of my life and am currently in a basement. A home of my own is a long awaiting dream and hope for life improvement. Then Busey’s gotta fuck that all up and hide in the house of a poor, unsuspecting family. Look out! Busey’s hidin’ in the house, and he’s aiming to stay, rent-free no less!
What the actual fuck? Did you know about this? Because I’m amazed this amount of time has gone by without me seeing this criterion collection potential piece starring Gary Busey. Whom I think is an outstanding actor. Say and consider what you will about him; his acting is phenomenal and stands alone on its own. The versatility is evident in “Hider In The House,” not only shining a light on Busey’s talent but everyone involved. And I mean everyone.
Demons have haunted him and still haunt him into adult life, which gave him the ability to believe that what he was doing was right. As adults, we know full well that some things we say or do may not always be the right thing. As a child, he was starved of love, and his hunger grew into something unimaginable, scarring this family beyond repair. His tragic story is not easy to listen to during the introduction; fair warning.
Think of this piece being early “Lifetime” with familiar actors playing roles that wouldn’t get the awards but awareness. The amount of emotion performed was admirable, a snapshot of what a perfect family may behave. The children were the best actors of all time, however. If I were in their shoes, I would have screamed bloody murder during multiple instances where I didn’t get a good vibe from Busey. I had that thing as a kid, did you?
It plays out just as you’d imagine, but I implore you to see Busey in this rare action. There were moments when a scene would end, and I’d think, “that wasn’t acting. That was Gary.” It’s extraordinary. No sense in locking your doors; he’s already in the house.
