TONIGHT!: When Your Last Shift At A Haunted Police Station Goes Bad Somehow

TONIGHT!: When Your Last Shift At A Haunted Police Station Goes Bad Somehow
Last Shift, 2014

Man, being an enforcer of the law is complex. Though many are outdated and plain nonsensical, some rules are necessary to have. Like consent, a skincare routine, and time put aside to masturbate. I get it; officers have it hard. Officer Loren, in particular, is set with the most straightforward task, guarding a police station. She was left out of the “boys club” and not told that the police station is haunted, and somehow that goes bad for her, making this her first and last shift.

You got really “bad dudes” out and about this land, thinking they own it- have the right to tell you what to do. Like, no one has the right to tell me I can’t pee in an abandoned police station in the middle of nowhere.

Rude.

The movie setup played out in the typical way you’d think: Rookie Officer striving to emulate her father’s legacy, being left alone within her subconscious emotions in a ditched cop shop begins to see some crazy shit. And SHE SEES SOME CRAZY SHIT!

The story was not deficient in any way. Officer Loren had a great head on her shoulders, knew the law, and kept her calm when being irrational with a weapon when you’re supposed to be alone in a building would set someone else down a different road. Her night starts out jolting her cool into the fire when bumps and bangs begin to echo from distant rooms. Thankfully she’s not a flashlight cop, but damn girl- I see you.

He needs some milk.

After an hour, the jump scares and some endgame begins to develop. I was very impressed with the effects and makeup that made this something I didn’t see coming. Morphing into a haunting or pure evil getting its rocks off on the first anniversary of a massacre isn’t typical. I feel this was done perfectly and boiled the story down to its bare bones-pain never goes away for anyone. No matter what you do or how long you run away from it.

You’ve got chills, thrills, and spills (of blood) that won’t disappoint.
